Quickly create website monitors from any page you visit using the CheckSite browser extension. Available on all plans.

What It Does

The CheckSite browser extension lets you create a new website monitor without leaving the page you are browsing. Instead of switching to the CheckSite dashboard, copying the URL, and filling out a form, you can do everything from a small popup right in your browser toolbar.

When you create a monitor through the extension, CheckSite immediately runs the first check so you get intelligent analysis without waiting for the next scheduled check.

Installation

The extension is available on the Chrome Web Store for Google Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc, etc.):

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "CheckSite"
  2. Click Add to Chrome
  3. Confirm the installation when prompted
  4. The CheckSite icon will appear in your browser toolbar

Tip: If you do not see the icon, click the puzzle piece icon in your toolbar and pin CheckSite for easy access.

How to Use

  1. Navigate to the website you want to monitor
  2. Click the CheckSite icon in your browser toolbar
  3. The extension popup opens with the current page's URL and title pre-filled
  4. Enter a monitoring prompt describing what you want to track (e.g., "Track the pricing on this page")
  5. Select a check frequency (how often CheckSite should check for changes)
  6. Click Create Monitor

Your new monitor appears immediately on the CheckSite dashboard, and the first check begins right away.

Authentication

The extension uses your existing CheckSite session. If you are logged in to checksite.app in the same browser, the extension will automatically authenticate. If you are not logged in, the extension will prompt you to sign in first.

Privacy & Permissions

The extension is designed with minimal permissions:

  • Reads only the URL and page title of the active tab — it does not access page content, cookies, or browsing history
  • Communicates only with checksite.app — no data is sent to any third-party service
  • No background processes — the extension only runs when you click the icon

Availability

The browser extension is available on all plans, including the free tier. There is no difference in extension functionality between Free and Pro — the monitor limits and features of your plan apply to the monitors you create, regardless of how you create them.
