Adding Your First Website Monitor

Learn how to set up your first website monitor in CheckSite with this step-by-step guide.

Before you start

Make sure you have a CheckSite account. If you don't have one yet, sign up for free - it only takes 30 seconds.

Step 1: Access the Add Monitor Page

Once you're logged into your CheckSite dashboard, you'll see an "Add New Monitor" button. Click this to start creating your first monitor.

Step 2: Enter the Website URL

In the URL field, paste the complete web address of the page you want to monitor. Make sure to include the full URL including "https://" or "http://".

Good URL examples:

  • • https://example.com/pricing
  • • https://store.example.com/product/smartphone
  • • https://blog.example.com/latest-updates
  • • https://docs.example.com/api/changelog

Step 3: Automatic Content Detection

After entering the URL, CheckSite will automatically:

  • Fetch the webpage content
  • Extract the page title
  • Create a content snapshot for future comparison
  • Validate that the URL is accessible

This process usually takes just a few seconds. If the URL is valid and accessible, you'll see the page title appear automatically.

Step 4: Configure Monitor Settings

You can customize several settings for your monitor:

Check Frequency

Choose how often CheckSite should check the website for changes:

  • Free Plan: Daily checks (every 24 hours)
  • Pro Plan: Every hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, or daily

Notification Settings

Configure how you want to be notified:

  • Email notifications: Enabled by default for all plans
  • Telegram notifications: Available on Pro plan
  • Slack & Discord notifications: Available on Pro plan
  • Teams notifications: Available on Pro plan
  • Webhook notifications: Available on Pro plan for custom integrations

Step 5: Create the Monitor

Once you're happy with your settings, click the "Create Monitor" button. Your monitor will be created and will start checking the website according to your chosen frequency.

Congratulations!

Your first monitor is now active! You'll receive an email notification whenever CheckSite detects changes on the website.

What Happens Next?

After creating your monitor:

  1. Initial check: CheckSite performs the first check immediately
  2. Regular monitoring: The website is checked according to your frequency setting
  3. Change detection: When changes are detected, you'll receive notifications
  4. History tracking: All changes are logged in your monitor's history
